Artist Statement:

My work revolves around language, texts, words and memory. The paper is used as a support, a material, to show the Texture of the text, the words within and the memory contained. Playing with leftover traces of texts, I tried to create a mental landscape of the text through the paper. , to materialize through the webb of words the labyrinthine aspects, the languages Mazes. With a representing body, a book appears as images, a language volume, as an assembly, an image that imprints. The text disappears to materialize, structure itself and to give inspiration to space. In the manner of John Cage or Paul Klee with music, this work attempts to give life to the text, to create a new form of expressing language, and create architecture of the book and language. Torn page by torn page and cut line by cut line a new body of the book is born to rise and effect.

The braiding creates a Texture, a surface language. This language is intermingled by holes, it is unreadable and no longer attainable by the mind, in this way the surface is the text. Braiding makes the words inaccessible, they get matted, tangled, lost. There is a creation of architecture of language, a scene representing the mental complexity of the work. I’m trying to work through this hand woven work to create a visual emotion of the language by leaving breakthroughs, like missing information in an imaginary landscape of a story. Gather in one area; synthesize the work of duration. The text is represented as a sample, a sample of language, with which the viewer can associate and try to unravel the unreadable, the labyrinth that represents the language.

In this work of recovery created around the language. There is this desire to distance the text from the viewer, to make it inaccessible and by this to trigger the question of the mental substance of the book. The book, being an useless object that only functions but doesn’t  becomes a surface, a breakable volume that delivers its substance but not its essence. The text is not the text. The representation of the book in my work has been enriched by a new path, one to play with the text and create forms that represent the character of the text. To play as in the work of calligrammes Apollinaires the question of the form, The paper becomes a medium of composition and allows me to invent a freedom of expression. By designing an image of the text a palimpsest of language is created.

This work is an allegory of memory. Through weaving strings of texts the words within got tangled and became unreadable like lost thoughts in the mind. Palimpsests are created, erasing and rewriting constantly all things that are constituted through the braiding. Like the memory it is fragile complexity showing the inner essence of the meaning of the content as a landscape of words.

In the work Symposium of Plato language becomes volumes, textures, landscapes, the surface is ripped, broken, the Text becomes an Images, a representation of the Dialog. The language becomes plastic; the Text reveals itself as a movable plasticity, a body of the language.
